The Sea

About Me

"In 11377 BC I discovered music, since then I've surfed it's waves, ridden it's whirlpools and embraced it's power. After a while the sensible folk decided to join me. It's all been uphill since then."
The Sea is one of the UK's most acclaimed producers and musicians who has an ear for making music that transcends genres. Having worked as an engineer and musician in Jamaica for several years (Jimmy Cliff, Shabba Ranks, Buju Banton, Toots and The Maytals, Third World) he returned to London in the 90s to work with Massive Attack, The Wailers, Everything But The Girl, and London Posse amongst others.
Over the next 10 years, he produced several of British Hip Hop's most significant albums including Lewis Parker's 'Masquerades & Silhouettes', and Rodney P's 'The Future' which received unprecedented acclaim.
Last year, The Sea and Rodney P formed the production team - The Landscapers - and were invited to remix poet Benjamin Zephaniah's 'Naked' album. One Little Indian have re-released this album to include all the remixes under the title 'Naked & Mixed Up'. The Landscapers were commissioned by the Tate Modern to compose a piece of music inspired by Andy Warhol alongside six other British musicians including The Chemical Brothers and Graham Coxon. The Landscapers Featuring Benjamin Zephaniah were invited to close the last night of the first ever Electric Proms at The Roundhouse for the BBC.
The Sea continues to work from The Beach (his own studio) where he is currently working on his own solo ‘Latin Dub’ project, co-producing Skitz’s next album and various other artists' material. Every morning he wakes up and tries to be the best dad that he can to his two little angels.
