Stay tuned....we completed shooting segments of the film in Ethiopia, Liberia and Tanzania, and will be soon visiting other countries. Thus far, our film has explored the role of Haile Selassie in the origins of Rastafari music, on the underground hip hop movement in Arusha, Tanzania and a community of young people who overcome the hardships of living in a conflict zone by spending sunday afternoons at a beach called Brooklyn in Monrovia, Liberia.
MYTH OF THE MOTHERLAND is a new documentary film project which follows young writers/poets as they embark on a creative writing journey through diverse African countries to meet with African scholars, writers, griots, artists and others to address myths and biases about the Mother Continent.
Armed with cameras and notebooks, the filmmakers and young spoken word artists of MYTH OF THE MOTHERLAND intend to break stereotypes current portrayed about the African continent in American media and to share the truths about the realities of the African people by giving Africans "the mic."
