Eye Karumba began towards the end of 2006.
The name is a tribute to all things cartoon. More specifically: the Simpsons. Although the PowerPuff girls did feature a laser shooting alien villain by the same name.
Karen Churchless was still playing in all-girl punk project MItsoo when she decided to start a new side project. Something Indie, something with a keyboard and most importantly something fun.
Eye Karumba features:
Karen Churchless on vocals and guitar (the band are also trying to teach her keyboard on the side).
Shannon Devy on drums, back up vocals and general chaos.
The Mysterious Mrs Langenhoven on bass guitar.
Shane Marks on cheesy casio keyboards and bass.
Eye Karumba play an inspired mix of indie, funk, swing and punk. They take influence from the Pixies to the Dresden Dolls and enjoy most music except for possibly hard house.
Eye Karumba are a band who believe in the power of fun but also hard work and not more than 2 drinks before a show.
