Unmatched witticism matched with a lung pitch distinct from the flock of modern day â€œinfluencedâ€ rappers; NC-17 is modern day Hip-Hop drenched in Pop culture bravado. Never one to shy away from being original, NC-17 proves that itâ€™s not what an MC raps about, but how he says it. Born and raised in the Projects of South Baltimore, MD, NC-17 didn't find success as a rap star until he spent a few years in Philadelphia. After ghostwriting raps for a few local acts, NC-17 caught the eye of an A&R at Ruff Ryder Records, thus a young NC-17 took to the studio and began to hone his craft. It was during this period of recording and traveling with Ruff Ryders that 17 realized that in order to distinguish himself from the flock of East Coast MCâ€™s he would have to go against the grain and think outside of the box. Instead of glorifying the street culture that breed him, NC-17 would transform his personal tales into a cinematic, Quentin Tarantino like style of pulp non-fiction. Relying more on pop culture laced punch-lines than metaphors about the latest gun of the week, NC-17 proved it was possible to be creative and comical without crossing over into farce. Most rappers raised in similar environments will cough out 16 bars about how they sell crack. Only NC-17 will paint a picture about waking up, watching Regis and Kelly, and then selling crack. Think about that. Settling into Los Angeles, 17 began recording what would become the full length LP OSCAR NIGHT, a title representing a young manâ€™s struggle from the projects of Baltimore to the Hills of Hollywood. With one LP under his belt NC-17 has done the unthinkable and revamped his entire style in order to pay tribute to his true loves -- Pop, Grunge, and Rap. The result is the Power Pop opus: EPIC FAIL to be released in the the 1st qtr of 2009!
