About Me

Hey there. My name is Hilary and I'm 17. I grew up in one of the most incredibly beautiful places in the world, Jackson Hole, Wyoming and I am very fortuate for that. Yet still all I really want to do with my life is travel and see all there is to see and experiance every culture there is in this amazing world. That's why I am currently a foreign exchange student in rural northeastern Thailand. As of now I've been here almost 8 months and I'll be back at the end of May. I wish I could just sit and write down every detail of what it's like to live with natives in a village in southeast asia. But I just don't think I'll ever be able to convey all that I've seen and experianced to someone who hasn't been here themselves. Not that I don't want to, it's just that the feeling have yet to surface as words. That said, I'd like to think that the photographs I've taken here can speak more than I ever could get across. I just hope that everyone someday can have similar experiances that open up the world for them. See you all in a few months! Choke dee na ka!To keep up with me and my trip visit my photo acount at http://www.flickr.com/photos/jhole-hilary/ LaosCambodia

Heroes:

Veronica Guerin for the advancements she made in journalism. Dith Pran for daring to expose the Khmer Rouge. Ghandi, Mother Theresa and Pope John Paul II. Alex, Regan and Cody. Charles Bukowski, for refusing to let people tell him what art is. Alvin Ailey and Paul Taylor for creating marketable modern dance and Robert Battle because his choreography is incredible. Andy Worhol and Vincent VanGogh just because. And Che Guavera because I'm kind of going through a communist phase. Yes, his regimes were marked by lots of violence (much of which was not his doing), but he was also fucking brilliant and had the clearest view and understanding of what idealist Marxist socialism is all about. Read his manifesto!!!!! There are so many things that we could learn from him (including his mistakes).“At the risk of seeming ridiculous, let me say that the true revolutionary is guided by a great feeling of love.” —Che Guevara.......Oh yah, and all the Canadians because they're smarter than us and I like how they talk.
