Paul HackmanWhen Helix keyboard player, Don Simmons, decided to leave the band, Helix ran an ad in the paper for the job but had little response. Finally they had this guy named Paul phone their manager.Paul told Helix manager, Bill Seip, that he wasn't a keyboardist but that the chances of finding one were slim because he had been looking for a keyboard player for his band, Whitehorse, and that there were none to be had, and would we consider having a guitar player instead? We all know the answer to that one.Paul Hackman would become the heart and soul of the band, Brian Vollmer's writing partner, business partner, and most of all his close friend. Paul was part of the line-up from 1976 to 1992. When he died, the world lost a great, gifted artist and performer.
