It's time for change!

About Me

I'm always on the go. New cities, new jobs, new friends. I'm originally from the U.P. of Michigan, but I've been a travel nurse for about two years. I spent a year of hell in LA, but I've come out the other side transformed for the better, in my opinion.I hope to make a more permanent home for my bad self in Salt Lake City - at least for awhile. I'm scrambling around for ways to make that happen.I'm trying to assemble the materials for the Treeleaf Sangha online Jukai coming up shortly (how shortly is not yet known).I have ADHD, which is immediately evident to most people as soon as they meet me, even if I'm medicated.

My Interests

Motorcycles,'......', Zen Buddhism, The desert, Art (again), Therapy, Weightlifting (Whoda thunk?), the Paleo Diet (kinda sorta), simplicity, and the stolen art of invisibility. I've been meditation nearly daily for awhile again - it's a practice I'd had for quite a while in my late teens and twenties.Lately, I'm into beer. I think I like cream ales the most, but I also like a good wit or DIPA.

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to meet complex, smart, forgiving people.

Music:

Ass Ponys, Wussy, Magnetic Fields, Psapp, Of Montreal, Stars, The Smiths, Silver Jews, Belle & Sebastian, Placebo, Mouse On Mars, Godflesh, Modest Mouse, Jesu, Eight Frozen Modules, Maximo Park, His Name Is Alive, Neutral Milk Hotel, David Bazan, Pedro the Lion, Pixies....

Movies:

My favorite movie is 'Groundhog Day'. I'm not sure why. I also dig 'Much Ado About Nothing', 'Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle', 'Office Space', 'The 40 Year-old Virgin', 'Juno', 'Michael Clayton', 'Superbad',

Television:

Northern Exposure, History Channel, Dexter, Mad Men, various Star Trek...

Books:

Really getting into Byron Katie again ('Loving What Is', etc), 'Hooked', 'Buddhism Is Not What You Think' by Steve Hagen...

Heroes:

Sidd Gautama and the myriad known and unknown translators that have brought his teachings across several languages and to my ears and eyes.

Life can be strange

I feel like I woke up and I was cured of a disease.I have struggled my entire life with this indescribable empty space inside me. It's an uncertainty of sorts - an insecurity and an unbelievably stro...

Craving has its own life

"All we want, all we really want, is simply to wake up" - (paraphrased) Steve HagenI read the line above earlier tonight but I didn't really let it sink in. Finally, now again, I really SEE it.When I...

Everything feels dreamlike..

When I got into LA yesterday, it felt vaguely unreal. Similarly, the old apartment complex where I lived did not feel quite the same, nor the apartment. Three months can really change things.I can't...

No More...

What the fuck happened to me? Was it bad karma? Consider the lesson learned and the karma repaid. I know I put some of my exes through some really hard times. It was always they who had problems, ...

What I need...

My friend's back in jail (it's a backlash from a former fuck-up, not a new event), so life in Salt Lake City will be a lot less fun the next couple of months.Living here and hanging out with Steve has...

"Ask your doctor if you have Amoebic Dysentery!"

'Restless Leg Syndrome' is the catchword for a pharmaceutical industry gone horribly out of control, and as someone who has another 'phantom' disease - ADHD - I can relate to the people who may genuin...

SLC, punk...

So...I’m back in SLC a mere ten years after I last lived here. Some observations:The downtown is dead! What happened? Maybe it was on its way out years ago, but it still sorta surprises me. ...
