THE SPINLORDS OF SPINTANIA

About Me

Drawing from a vast melting pot of influences yet retaining their own British humour and surreal edge, The Spinlords are a truly original band. As a live act they will certainly impress with their insane musical stylings, and are guaranteed bring on a fit of inane grinning.
The recently released self titled debut album has also attracted some rave reviews-
"This record has charmed the pants off of me, like a smooth-talking lothario wooing an inebriated bar-fly. The Spinlords peddle a quirky Classic/Prog style of Rock, though are not averse to throwing in bit of funk, death metal percussion and space-rock weirdness for good measure. There are even twin guitar solos, kazoos and Barrett-esque psychedelic whimsy. A potent string to their bow comes in the shape of a vocalist with a range that could even make Jeff Buckley blush and while the guitars may worship of the altar of Jimmy Page (not a bad thing I may add), The Spinlords sound is very much their own."

Influences: Growing up in Devon, Prog Rock, a teenage diet of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Megadeth and Iron Maiden,The Countryside, Jazz from all eras, Far too many british comedies, the 70's, the great romantic & 20th century composers, tea, various bizarre and obscure metal bands, Kate Bush and a little splash of folk.
Sounds Like: "The music you will hear on your journey to Spintania is of a prog/fusion sort, wonderfully executed and recorded. A blend of outright heavy rock and melodic, what some might call "symphonic", passages. Full of bouncy licks, grooves and psychedelic schizouts; it provides everything you could ask for.

I can hear echoes of King Crimson filtered through all manner of other influences no doubt; Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Van der Graaf Generator, System of a Down, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Funkadelic, Frank Zappa, Gong, The Residents etc... All great stuff. But, of course, none of that means anything because the music of the Spinlords sounds like none of the above - they are the nearest points of reference; elements of my world-view which I use to explain my experiences.

It is simply really great stuff, and I am sure that you will agree"
