.. Hello! I'm Shane Hennessy.I'm Irish, from the great town of Carlow :) I'm an acoustic guitarist but i play other instruments from time to time too.
I started playing the guitar when i was 12, and apart from the first night I started playing when my father showed my eight chords, I'm completely self-taught. I love playing fingerstyle guitar, and i play tunes by the likes of Tommy Emmanuel, Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, Martin Taylor, Andy McKee, Antoine Dufour and Jerry Reed to name a few.
I'm a big fan of the 'oldies' like James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Marley, Eric Clapton, The Beatles, Christopher Cross and some of the 'newer artists' too such as Jack Johnson, Newton Faulkner, Nickelback, Paddy Casey, U2, Michael Bublé, and loads of other artists (i suppose im just too lazy to list them all :) ).
I do compose my own songs/tunes from time to time, albeit not as much as I'd like to. As James Taylor says, you've just got to wait for inspiration to come around and sometimes you can get it from the most unusual places at times.
I listen to all sorts of genres of music (like Jazz, Funk, even Rap sometimes) and try to learn and pick up things from them. I started out on the concertina when i was 8 playing Irish Traditional music and even though i dont play as much as I used to, i still like listening to it.
