About Me

DJ YeLLo, a.k.a Joseph Leason, was born on Dec. 14th 1980 in Las Vegas Nevada. While attending Dobson High School he had a vision, a feeling that he was going to do something and be something spectacular. As the photo editor the school newspaper and the yearbook, he learned how to deal with the everyday stress of a deadline. This also helped fuel his artistic abilities. Along with winning many awards in photography, he was the school DJ, playing every Friday afternoon at lunch for everyone. He took this opportunity to introduce electronic music to people that would not normally hear it in 1997. Thru out all of 97’and 98’, he played at various house parties and other gatherings including raves and clubs, spinning everything from Hip Hop to Trip Hop to Drum & Bass. In 1999, he met a DJ while working in a Radio Shack named Dj Steel a.k.a Kris Chupp. Steel showed Joseph how to program and how to give the crowd what they wanted! Throughout 99’to 2000, however, Kris Steel and Joseph Leason played all the major clubs and events around the state, including: 411, Trinity, Peppermint Disco, Freedom, and Andersons Fifth Estate for 2 years. Kris, Steel and Joseph Leason then rocked it on the House Nation Show (103.9) every Friday night for 4 months straight. In 2001, Joseph Leason went to work for Off The Record (Record Store) in Mesa as the web designer and when Off The Record closed he then went to London West Records in Tempe. There, he went on to design and build their website in the later half of 2001. 2002 however has been the most eventful year so far for Joseph. He started the year by going to Europe to study music and while in England, he frequented many record stores to find out what it took to become a great DJ as well as acquiring many extremely sought after records. While at 3 Beat Records in Liverpool, Joseph had a talk with some of the biggest producers in the UK: Sange from Defected, and Steve Parry from 3 Beat records and Fluid recordings. When he returned home, he had gained a world of knowledge and the desire to become a legend.
Metatron began mixing records in Phoenix Arizona in early April 1999. He had found a huge love for the music and the lifestyle that came along with it. After signing onto Liquid Media in mid 2000 he began to really learn to understand the equipment and Music Theory in general. With the help of a few local legends such as Matty and Project23 he started his evolution into the sound that is the Metatron. He and Project23 formed a small collaboration called "The Living Library" in 2001. It consisted of the 2 Dj's, four turn tables, a laptop, a few keyboards and an array of many different synth machines and toys. The Genre exploited was an Ambient/Down Tempo sound that utilized in his opinion some of most intellegently composed music in the world. This took his appreciation of music one step further. Later down the line he intergrated with Local Heroes "The Dirt Assasinz" in early 2005 (Crewmates: Rob Kwik, Matteo, Steve Kerr, Decoy, Yello, and Niko). Their wide range of different talents and Genre's could appeal to anyone with an appreciation for good music. From Breaks (all forms of Electro, Funky, Nu Skool, ect.), to House, to Drum and Bass/Jungle, to Hip Hop. Considering he likes to dabble in most all of it anyways, this crew was a perfect match. They are consistantly working and expanding to reach new heights. Here he feels at home and enjoys the Family Oriented crew. Early 2006 he joined up with another local crew "Vibe Netwerk" (Crewmates: Harmonious Amnesia, Luminous, Cuban, Jason E, and Miss Vibe) all peers in a similer style of music. He looks forward to further persuing his career with both of his collectives. Now with his head looking to production the sky is the limit. Keep your ears open for the unique sound that will continue to blow minds for a long time to come.
