About Me

The Barrio Jazz Gang's debut album called "Spectrum " reveals the band's compelling itinerary between the brainy elements of jazz and the more physical, pulsing elements of club-dance music. A distinctive Mediterranean and Latin American touch colours the themes and melodies throughout the album.Roby "Jazzman" Colella, one of the two musician-producers of the Barrio Jazz Gang project has a string of productions to his credit (Panaphonic, L.E.D., Safariways, Roby J.C. Sound [himself] ) and he is also the producer of such bands like : Os Morcegos [a bossa-nova, jazz-samba band of 10 live elements they will release theis first cd–album in these days,] and Cuban Jazz Combo...Stefano Micarelli is the other pillar of the band, a guitarist-producer who has collaborated with the likes of George Garzone and Harvie Swartz, Eddie Henderson...... The man cultivates a veneration for Wes Montgomery and Tal Farlow as well as a passion for electronics and fly fishing. Other members are Aldo Bassi (trumpet), Paolo Innarella (sax and flutes) and singer Paola Fortini, all established musicians from the italian jazz scene.Echoes of retrò-jazz, of bossa-nova and of african rhythms make up the texture of this musical excursion, crossing a great deal of boundaries along the way. The long-awaited second album will be ready for the next summer. Keep tunes !
