How we got the name
As told by Panoot:
I have this friend named Sophia. I love her dearly! haha. But this is how it all started. One of my friends, Muni, and i were thinking of something to call our band. We came up with a bunch of ideas, then Sophia just blurted out Kill Sophia. I loved the name. It was really catchy. But we used something more girly (since we were forming an all girl band). We called ourselves the Pats and Promqueens.
When this band got together (Kill Sophia), we were thinking of what to call ourselves. For a time, we called ourselves Fruitcake (we first used it for the Spongecola gig). Briggs came up with the name. Then on December 28,2006 during our gig at Liquid Bar we all decided to call ourselves Kill Sophia.
Another reason why we call ourselves Kill Sophia: SHE NEVER SHOWS UP TO ANY OF OUR GIGS!!! hahahaha
HOW THEY MET
Harry and Juno met in school. They were batch mates at St. Joseph’s, and they eventually became band mates. They both met Briggs at the same school.
Juno and Briggs met Patricia through Jojo ( a common friend) when Patricia needed to borrow a guitar for her talent night. That same night, Juno asked Pat to model in Victorias for Rhipstop. Pat won Best in Talent thanks to Briggs’ guitar.
Juno, Harry, and Briggs started a band (Chupakits Brigade) where Ernie was the vocalist. Michael (guitarist for Cambronero) offered to play drums for them since Chupakits Brigade didn’t have a permanent drummer.
In October of 2006, Juno was asked by Ginny Lizares if his band could play a couple of songs for her debut. Juno said yes and thought of getting a female vocalist, and he thought of getting Pat. Pat said yes, and that’s where it all started.
As Juno and Briggs once said “may chemistry lng gid†that’s why the band just stuck.
After less than a month of being a band, gigs came pouring in. the first official gig was at Robinson’s Metro Bacolod with the help of Cambronero. The next gig was at Robinsons Place Bacolod for a local TV show. But the gigs they enjoy the most are those where they really get to express themselves and do practically anything they want.
“We have never been paid a centavo for a gig, but a paying gig won’t hurt wahahaha.
