About Me

I'm the band. Just me on a Martin and an occasional harmonica. Nothing fancy. My wife and three year old boy and five year old girl are my roadies. We usually don't go further than the porch or the living room. I'm not sure you can call them roadies and judging from the numerous scratches on my guitar, I'm sure you can't call them good at it either. But I love them a lot and I don't pay them much. The music is as honest as I can be, and yes terribly flawed. Some people just hate it and say nothing, some people say they like it, but people do lie. I was born some time ago in Pa. The 60's if you must know and I was walking by the time of woodstock and could form multiple syllable words. Like many folk singers I love melody and struggle with rythym, yet I digress. If you want to know more listen to the songs.

Influences: That's so hard because so many have influenced my style, but not necessarily my content of lyrics. I can like the way someone says something and not always agree on what they have said (Louden Wainwright comes to mind). But the melody has no moral position only it's presenter gives me that. I love story songs and snaps shots of the human condition and heavens hope in the midst of that. I like to think I sing sanctified folk music, but some might say "stinkified." Jesus Christ has been my biggest influence in life and thought. My biggest musical influences have been singer-songwriters and songwriters. My favorite, Townes Van Zandt, to me, was a brillant songwriter and Van Morrison is a great singer and songwriter. I would say I have been influenced by John Prine, Louden Wainwright, Nick Drake, Guy Clark, Bill Morrissey, Mississippi John Hurt, Tom T HAll, Rev. Gary Davis, Steve Forbert, Keith Green and Greg Brown and many others in my adult life. I grew up listening to Springsteen, John Mellencamp, Ian Hunter, Ricki Lee Jones, Bruce Cockburn, Dylan, Jackson Brown and Van Morrison. I Love contemporary artists as well like Andrew Peterson, Amos Lee, Alison Krauss, Garnet Rodgers, VOL, Bebo Norman, Richard Shindell, John Gorka and hundreds of others I am forgetting.
Sounds Like: "You should keep your day Job!"
