Keith Scott is one of the world's great voice impersonators, Australian based, internationally recognized as a master mimic of the famous and infamous. His range encompasses contemporary movie stars to beloved golden age favourites of yesteryear, from Stallone to DeNiro, Gable to John Wayne. He duplicates scores of famous people from all walks of life - from politicians to royalty, Bill Gates to Homer Simpson (and a myriad of other classic cartoon characters).
He has also created a vast range of original character voices for TV and radio, including many dialects, in both comic and serious veins, and is recognized as one of the world's top comic narrators, via his roles in the feature films George of the Jungle (Walt Disney Co.), and The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle (Universal Studios).
The year 2000 saw the publication of Keith Scott's book "The Moose That Roared", a long-awaited, insanely detailed history of the classic TV cartoons from the Jay Ward studio, including Bullwinkle, Dudley Do-Right and George of the Jungle. The exhaustively researched book details the genesis of these hilariously satirical cartoons of the 1960s, recognized today as cult classics, the Simpsons of their day.
Keith is internationally recognized as a leading historian of Hollywood animation and old-time radio shows, and has been a consultant/research associate on several recent books including "The Great American Broadcast" (by Leonard Maltin, 1997), "The Laugh Crafters" (by Jordan Young, 1998) and "The Animated Film Encyclopedia" (by Graham Webb, 2000). He has also written various cartoon history articles for Animato Magazine. His next book will be a detailed look at the many unsung voice artists in cartoons of the 1930s, 40s and 50s; this book, by Keith and his associate, Arkansas-based Hames Ware, will finally give these often obscure talents the long-overdue recognition they lacked in their own lifetimes.
Keith Scott is now internationally recognized via his large roles in two big-budget Hollywood feature films. In 1997 he was the narrator in Disney's big-screen adaptation of the hilarious Jay Ward TV cartoon George of the Jungle. This movie, starring Brendan Fraser in the title role, proved a big success for the Walt Disney Company, and has been hugely successful on video and DVD. Keith received great reviews for his role as the snide off-screen commentator, an imitation of the TV show's original narrator, the late Paul Frees.
Two years later Keith was back in L.A. for Universal Studios. He travelled during the shoot of The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle, supplying not only the voice of the famous dim-witted moose, but also the movie's stentorian narrator, based on the original narrator, the late William Conrad. He also does four other characters heard in the movie, including the "cartoon" versions of Boris Badenov and Fearless Leader. The $90 million film opened in the U.S. on June 30, 2000. For this picture, Keith got to work with Robert DeNiro, Jason Alexander, Rene Russo and a slew of other famous folk who were in cameo roles. And of course the opportunity to be the official voice of Bullwinkle J. Moose meant that Keith got to work in the sound studio with his childhood idol June Foray, who is still speaking for the plucky Rocky the Flying Squirrel, some forty years after she created the voice!
