Ayo Beckley a.k.a "Dread" was born in East Oakland, California on August 21, 1990. He was raised in the city of San Leandro where he was then exposed to the Hyphy Movement in the Mid 90's. As a kid, he always loved music and Hip Hop but never really gained the love for music until his 8th grade year in Middle School where he wrote his first battle rap in his English class. From then on, there was no stopping him. After graduating from the 8th grade, Dread then moved to Fairburn, Georgia, 10 to 15 minutes away from the city of Atlanta, where he would start a new chapter of his life. He attended Riverwood High School and the following year went to Creekside High. It was here where he was exposed to talented artists like LUDACRIS, and PASTOR TROY, who really inspired him to be the best at rapping. Everyday at his school, he would battle or enter in rap sessions. Winning some and losing some, he noticed that his rap style was changing and he was getting better and better each day. After his sophmore year in High School, he them moved to Pasadena, California, 15 -20 minutes from LOS ANGELES, where his rapping career would explode before his eyes. It was here, where he teamed up with his group members TRE BOOG and YUNG DAVE and made the hit song "SHAKE YA HEAD". After making the song they named the group "Da Gooniez". Now, a year after forming the group, him and is group members have managed to rise to the top and become some of the best rappers in the city of Pasadena. His style is unlike no uther Artists.
"I feel like coming from the Bay and Atlanta has really expanded my capabilities when it comes to rapping. I like to get hyphy and get crunk, so why not combine both genres and make something different", quoted the young artist. It is only positive things coming for Dread in the years to come and who knows what record label he will sign to soon? ONLY TIME WILL TELL!
