About Me

Can one ever really know one's self? Probably they can, and probably I do. But what would be the fun in me telling you about myself? I wouldn't write the bad things because I don't want to come off like an asshole, and I wouldn't write the really good things because I don't want to seem vain. Middle of the road stuff is boring, so I won't write that either. All I'll say is this: I'm almost always nicer to people than I want to be.

My Interests

Foosball, books, and boys

I'd like to meet:

Apparently men in jumpsuits.

Music:

The Country Bear Jamboree and that's it.

Movies:

since I was a babe in the woods of cinema - anything Monty Python. Then came, in no particular order: Jaws, Life Aquatic, Anchorman, also the Shining, Dogma (movies never really make me cry, but for some truly bizarre reason I get a little misty at the end when god kisses Jay. Totally weird.), I do love me anything with some Humphrey in it, and most recently 300. Yum.

Television:

due to impoverished conditions, i have no tv

Books:

fun books, particularly The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy series and really everything that Douglas Adams ever wrote; Dark Tower Series and lots of other King stuff; Vurt and Pollen by Jeff Noon;, hm, i can't lie, i love Potter. The Clergy Man's Daughter by George Orwell, Einstein's Dreams by some guy. I tried to read Jaws recently and I really wanted to like it, but i didn't. The Time Traveler's Wife and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime are some recent favorites. Oh! And I just read Venus in Furs SOOO good. Brothers Karamazov, Wigfield, Christopher Moore is a good recent find. Player Piano and Slaughter House 5.

Heroes:

John Cleese and Les Claypool and Douglas Adams and Joanna Lumley (aka Patsy Stone)

My Blog

I can finally tell this story

When this happened I wanted so badly to tell everyone I knew, because it's quite possibly the most hilarious thing that has or will ever happen to me. So odds are, you may have heard this one already,...

Paying for shit

In a monumental attempt by the Chinese to baffle the hell out of me, zoos have started harvesting the tons of panda excrement that pile up daily and turning it into fun souvenirs like picture frames a...

Pays to be cool

Ever since I started getting a super pretty lady tattooed on my leg, I've felt bad about receiving compliments for it. Sure she looks great, but it wasn't my doing. I just picked out a picture, found ...

Different kinds of crazy

I had the pleasure of going to Chicago this past weekend for a festival. It was interesting to check out a new city. Growing up in New Jersey, when you think of a city you think New York. It's eas...

I can't deny my love for Potter

So I feel I must publicly expound my Severus Snape theory before the last Harry Potter book comes out. I know, it's a total guilty pleasure, but damnit, I love that ragtag bunch of misfit wizards. So ...

And you thought the South was inbred (and other scientific anomalies)

O Caaanadaaa, my home and native land of total fucking weirdness! I'm not sure how big of a news story this is, but have you heard about the lady freezing her eggs for her daughter so her daughter can...

The day the happiness died

Sometimes life isn't fair. I know this. But still, when it's particularly unfair I still want to stamp my feet and throw a tantrum like a 5 year that was breast fed for too long. One such instance was...

The universe works in mysterious ways

Sometimes I wonder about the nature of the universe. Like is there something behind all that new-age crap about the forces of energy at work in the universe? I mean I buy into the idea that we are all...

I wonder...

I wonder if the American ideal of the individual is just too much pressure for some people?? We hold the individual in extremely high regard. As a nation we prize our freedom to be who we want to be, ...

So this one time...

Yeah, I haven't been doing too much lately to warrant any good posts. Plus, I've been using the bulk of my meager writing talents on a larger project, and also in the wooing, which quickly degraded in...
