Josh and Darcy started writing music December 23rd 2004. after amassing many decent songs, they sought out a drummer and bassist to complete the sound. With Josh's background in piano, and Darcy's infinite knowledge in guitar from his ten years in classical guitar, the songs came easy, with interesting twists, great lyrics, and a whole lot of fun...
After years of struggling to find other like minded musicians, they parted ways with the band and began to write some excellent acoustic and piano songs. they have just finished self recording and producing their first full length CD "Faith in Shadows" which was released on June 1st, 2008.
They have recently added Philip Quade as their drummer, Walking Backwards released their second acoustic album, "Clarity Amid the Chaos", with Quade on djembe. Also, Marya Neustaedter was shorty after added to the mix, on bass, completing the musical phenomenon now sweeping over nation. Adding Quade's crazy rhythms and pounding drums and Marya's solid, grounding bass gives the songs a whole new atmosphere and won't disappoint!
They love playing in an intimate atmosphere, for close friends, total strangers, and stranger's close friends. They write for the love of music and the articulation of thoughts and struggles, and insight it provides into daily life.
We are feeling restless. we wanted to get away. to live life and see and do new things. We want to see the world, have crazy experiences, and make incredibly epic memories. So we are taking off. To interesting places that ignite some burning desire in us to explore, learn, and live.We are going to:
Iceland, Denmark, Spain, Morocco, Greece, Egypt, Jordan, India, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and the Phillipines. we will be gone 20 weeks. and we can hardly wait.We are leaving on July 30th, and are trying to decide exactly how many travel-sized toothpastes to bring. and socks.
On another note, we are also taking a few copies of our CD, "Faith In Shadows" to try and sell. how cool would it be if we had a following in Iceland?
