About Me
Fran Pérez is the award winning singer songwriter behind Narf (Fran
spelled backwards). He is one of the most respected modern Galician
musicians working in the field nowdays.In Sweden in 2006 he was awarded second prize for the song 'Santiago' at the Liet LavIut International Festival for singers from minoritary languages (Narf sings in Galician, language spoken in the northwest of Spain and closely related to Portuguese). This song was also chosen by the Arab Orchestra of Nazarét (which has collaborated with Radiohead and The Symphony Orchestra of London) to play together with Narf at the Auditorium of Galicia.Having played in bands throughout the eighties and nineties, he comes
from a rock and indie background. In 2002 he created his own musical
project 'Narf,' allowing him to form a unique blend of melodies and
rhythms that encompass his multiple influences: Arab, Flamenco,
Brasilian, Galician, African, Latin. His substantial musical vocabulary
combined with his unique guitar playing, delicate voice and passionate
performances make his shows memorable and breathtaking events.Narf has performed at numerous international festivals. His most recent
project, 'Bumba', was a collaboration with Timbila Muzimba, a group of
musicians from Mozambique. They toured together across Galicia in the
summer 2006.In 2006 Narf performed two tours within the UK at small venues building
an enthusiastic fan base. He will return to the UK in Setember 2007. These two videos are part of the 2007 tour.
