Meet La Guardia Flamenca, if you dare: a humoristic marching band consisting of flamenco-majorettes in short skirts that impresses audiences worldwide with their enchanting mixture of dance and singing, zapateado and castañuelas, palmas and jaleo.
And two musical toreros.
La Guardia stands for order and discipline, and that’s how a proper majorette should behave herself. With her head tilted high she proudly pulls of a enchanting leg show for the man in the street – rhythmically to beat of the drum or what did you think?
But these particular majorettes are also very flamenca: combining their order and discipline with the passion and emotion characteristic of flamenco, the innermost feelings sung from the innermost part of the soul, the dancers having turned into graceful and dominant crowd-pleasers with power and fuego.
La Guardia Flamenca presents ¡Anda La Banda!
A surreal and humoristic contrast between the organized, tightly controlled dance of the majorettes, and the impulsive, emotional and personal flamenco.
A clash of cultures you say? ¡Por supuesto!
Parading flamenco dancers will enchant the unsuspecting passers-by with a burning tornado of passion. It is Grandeur and Rhythm entwined: feminine charm will conquer the streets!
Since their first performance in 2005 La Guardia Flamenca has enchanted audiences worldwide in Belgium, The Netherlands (Theaterfestival Boulevard e.a.), France (Les Zaccros d’ma rue), Austria (La Strada in Graz) and Spain (Fira de Teatre – Tarrega).
In 2007 you’ll be able to see them in a.o. in Iceland (Reykjavik), Germany (Berlin), Austria (Vienna), The Netherlands, Korea (Gwacheong) and of course Belgium.
Don’t miss them before they wear out their lovely red boots - will feminine charm also conquer your streets?
