Ok, here are some details about my life as a musician ............................................................
..............................................In the beginning 70s my six years older cousin Helmut wanted my dad to learn guitar and he gave him a (very) cheap plywood acoustic which sounded like concrete in bath tub and my dad didn't start anything with it... but some years later - when I was 15/16 - I discovered this "guitar" behind a wardrobe.................... .................... .................... .................... ....................I placed a cheap mike through the hole IN the body, plugged it to a cheap cassette recorder, the volume for recording all the way up and that distorted - AND I MEAN REALLY DISTORTED - sound made me happy. Soimething between Black Sabbath tamed (Sorry, Tony...) and The Shadows on acid (Sorry, Hank...)... You can imagine, our neighbours were not so lucky with it.................... .................... .................... .................... ....................I heard, a few other boys in our village started learning guitar and we often met to learn from each other and from records we exchanged and we succeeded in getting the neighbours even more angry... Ok, I really got better, my parents noticed that, when I was 17 I got my first electric guitar, wow, I was so proud and eager in learning by listening to blues, jazz and rock'n'roll records.................... .................... .................... .................... ....................Soon I started a band with some friends, the members changed from 6 to 3 to 4, these 4 named "Iceberg" (Greetz to Tse-Tse, Klaus & Bölli!). Within several months we did our first gig in 1979, I tell ya, we played awfully, however the audience liked us.................... .................... .................... .................... ....................Later I moved to Dortmund for studying Visual Communications and there I played in several bands without success, though I had lots of fun. The music ranged from Blues Rock to Southern Rock to German Pop to Jazz Rock to I Don't Know.................... .................... .................... .................... ....................One project needs mentioning: the "Low Budget Blues Band" which consisted of Balu (vox, harp), Volker (guitar), Jost (harp), Tom (guitar) and me (guitar, vox)). We had several gigs in the nineties, playing Acoustic Blues... going back to the roots.................... .................... .................... .................... ....................In 1992 I joined "No Conscience" (Christoph (vox, guitar), Dirk (drums), Gerd (bass, vox) & me (guitar, vox)). We sounded very much like the "Red Hot Chili Peppers" and we did some funny gigs, but in 1994 we were disturbed by internal quarrels, so the band stopped existing.................... .................... .................... .................... ...................."Hugo Soul" went for straight soul music in 1995 - 1996. That was real fun, playing all those great songs you know by heart and the audience danced on it. But it got more and more difficult to get the 10 members together for rehearsals and gigs.................... .................... .................... .................... ....................TO BE CONTINUED SOON...
