~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The core of Deepwater Junction was formed in 1991 by Richard and Christine Buerger as an acoustic duo. By 1993 the acoustic format was limiting the creative flow and 5 musicians joined the band and became Deepwater Junction. The original line-up consisted of Guitars, Bass, Drums, Saxaphone, Mandolin, and four part vocal harmonies. Throughout the years, Deepwater Junction has seen several members come, go, and come back again, sometimes swelling to 13 members. The various musical influences and styles, led to a sound that was all-encompassing and allowed the band to touch on everything from Blues to Bluegrass, Jazz to Funk, all while keeping their feet firmly planted in jam-oriented Rock-n-Roll. From 1993 to 2001 Deepwater Junction toured and recorded sharing the bill with the likes of performers such as Jerry Garcia Band, Umphrey's McGee, Merl Saunders, and Ekoostik Hookah along the way. In fact, it was due to much help from Ekoostik Hookah that Deepwater Junction got off the ground. Besides sharing the stage numerous times, Dave Katz, Ekoostik Hookah keyboardist, contributed all keyboard tracks to Deepwater Junction's 1997 release, "Miscellaneous Prattle", which was nominated for local music awards including a winning award for art design. ( which also includes artwork and logos from Cliff Starbuck, bassist for Ekoostik Hookah.) In 2003 Christine and Richard returned the favor by providing back-up vocals for two tracks on Dave Katz' solo debut "Autumn Day", which resulted with Christine joining Dave's band "Katz-n-Jammers", and can currently be seen perfoming with them. Deepwater Junction went on hiatus in 2001. Richard and Christine have spent the last few years focusing the bulk of their energy on raising their son and are currently working with long-time alumni, guitarist Mike Sullivan, to find suitable musicians and return to the stage and recording. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Deepwater Junction has returned!
