My name is Lisa Barrett, and I am a Singer/Songwriter from Western New York. I wrote my first song in memory of my nephew Austin, who lost his battle with cancer just shy of his 2nd birthday. Music has always been prevalent in my family. I was always singing in the church folk group or high school musicals in my hometown of Cheektowaga, but I never wrote songs before. Writing became the grieving outlet I had been searching for. After the first song about Austin, many more songs followed, and I'm still writing today!I was given the opportunity to record an album of all original music in Nashville in Spring of 2005. They gave my songs a life I could never have imagined! Since then, I have started my own record label called Black Boot Records. The part that touches me the most is that I'm donating partial proceeds from each CD sold to a Hospice for kids program called Essential Care for Children, in Austin's memory. Essential Care is a home care pediatric program for children with life threatening illness.I am also very proud to share with you that Song #1, "Let's Roll", has recently become part of American History! I wrote it as an upbeat tribute to the heroes of Flight 93 on September 11th, 2001. My CD and information is now in the national archives for future generations of historians and educators to study! This "When You Look At Me" album is now part of Flight 93's American History!Thank you so much for helping me support Essenital Care for Children! Enjoy the music!
