Our Next GIG The NewField Inn, Newfield Road , Newfield, Cherster Le Street
The Whodlums end the gig with My Generation, including the demolition of Pete's Guitar.
The Whodlums play Wont Get Fooled Again Live 2008.

THE WHODLUMS are the north of England’s leading Who tribute act, bringing the excitement and power of a Who live show to venues across the region. Using authentic equipment, years of gigging experience, and – most importantly – a real love of The Who’s music, THE WHODLUMS deliver a live set filled with songs from all eras of The Who’s back catalogue.
THE WHODLUMS don’t look like The Who (because they have all lost their abs and no-one has blonde curly hair!), and they don’t dress like The Who (as their wives wouldn’t allow it!) but they do SOUND like The Who – FACT!
Besides the sound of The Who, at a WHODLUMS gig you’re also going to get a taste of how the real thing looked in their heyday. A video backdrop is used to great effect to show videos and stills from Who gigs and films, acting as a perfect complement to the WHODLUMS show.
We look forward to seeing you at a gig soon!
THE WHODLUMS can be booked for pub and club gigs, for outdoor events such as motorbike and scooter rallies, or for private functions such as parties and weddings. E-mail the band for more information …

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: THE BAND
THE WHODLUMS are a four-piece band.

With the fifth member, sound engineer Iain, playing just as important a part in our sound and our stage show.
The band formed in mid-2006 with the aim of recreating the authenticity and sound of The Who live. They play an array of Who songs, from early singles such as Substitute and My Generation, through to later hits such as Who Are You and You Better You Bet. In between there are selections from classic albums such as Tommy, Who’s Next, Live At Leeds and Quadrophenia, giving the audience – whether the die-hard Who fan or the casual listener – a performance to remember.

Influences: The Who (obviously),
John - Lead Vocals and Harmonica

John, a mad Who fan, started out in bands as a guitar player, but moved from guitar to lead vocals as part of the mod tribute band Substitute. John was at a Newcastle gig by US-based Who tribute band The Wholigans when he decided he wanted to get involved in something similar: “If you were at this gig you would have felt the energy from these guys. They were awesome! My vision was to play the music of The Who and maybe one day play in the very FIRST North East Who tribute band. That was my goal when I first decided to pull this all together and, guess what, I did it!”
Pete - Guitar and Vocals

Pete has been playing guitar for more years than he cares to remember and has always been a massive fan of sixties bands such as The Beatles, The Kinks, The Small Faces and, of course, The Who. Having first played with John in the band Substitute, Pete got the call to join The Whodlums in summer 2007 when original guitarist Steve left the band. “I love Pete Townshend’s style of guitar playing so being in a Who tribute band is a real treat.”
Andy - Bass Guitar and Vocals

Andy (The Young Ox) is the youngest member of the band he simply loves to play bass guitar and rises to the challenge of playing bass lines from 'The Ox', John Entwistle. Using some of the finest equipment money can buy. Andy creates an immensely powerful sound which has to be heard to be believed.
Bob - Drums and Vocals

Bob has been drumming since he was in his teens, which was way back before the invention of electricity. At that time he was heavily influenced by the great rock drummers of the time, namely John Bonham, Keith Moon and Simon Kirke. “These drummers were not big on speed, more on technique and that's the way I like to play today, making use of difficult snare and bass drum combinations.” Bob uses a customised Premier kit with top-range Sabian cymbals to give a sharp rock sound. “I recall seeing The Who a few times in the 1970s and they were awesome, so when I was given the chance to join The Whodlums, I jumped at it.”
Iain - Sound Engineer

An integral part of The Whodlums set-up, Iain gets just the right sound for every single venue and also handles the band’s lights and video back-drop. He gets the most out of the PA, which consists of;PA Active System, • Bas Bin’s – DB Opera 12. • Tops - DB Opera Live 15’s. • Mixing Desk - Yamaha MC16/64. • Monitors - Carlsbro DPM12 * 2 • Voice Live • Shure SM58 Dynamic Microphone SM58 * 3Back Drop. • LCD Projector - Sony VPL-CX11 • Archos 650 WIFILights • I Colour 4 * 2 • Control Unit • Foot Pedal – control
Lets not forget this guy, Magic Dan.

A special thanks to our great friend “Daniel Menyhart” We would like to thank Dan for his time, effort and commitment while working with The Whodlums. Dan gave us some great ideas and help build a fantastic back drop still used today. Cheers Dan, All the best and good luck.
John, Pete, Bob, Andy & Iain.
