About Zorongo
Singer Elisenda Pujals and guitarist Teresa Garcia founded the duo Zorongo as a result of their mutual interest and joy for the Spanish musical culture. At the beginning of the 20th century a group of composers of great stature including Lorca, Falla and Granados was writing music especially inspired by Spanish folklore, which due to the history of the country is rich in influences from many different cultures. Zorongos combination of guitar and voice is ideal for this repertoire. The sound quality and distinctive timbre of the guitar - an instrument ideally suited to represent the Spanish musical culture, along with the voice - our best means to convey emotions, is a beautiful union and a concert with Zorongo is always an electrifying experience of beauty and dramatic intensity, both characteristic features of this musical style. Both artists have impressive educations from prestigious conservatories in Spain, The Netherlands and Belgium. Since the founding of the duo the ensemble has played numerous highly successful concerts in Spain, Holland and Belgium.

Empieza
el llanto
de la guitarra.
Se rompen las copas
de la
madrugada.
Empieza el llanto
de la guitarra.
Es
inútil callarla.
Es imposible
callarla.
Llora
monótona
como llora el agua,
como llora el viento
sobre la nevada.
Es imposible
callarla.
Llora por
cosas
lejanas.
Arena del Sur caliente
que pide
camelias blancas.
Llora flecha sin blanco,
la tarde sin
mañana,
y el primer pájaro muerto
sobre la
rama.
¡Oh, guitarra!
Corazón malherido
por
cinco espadas.
Federico García Lorca (1898-1936)
