About Me

ABOUT ME: Originally from Omagh in Northern Ireland, Colin Dardis now resides in Belfast, where he is involved in the local poetry and arts scene.
He is the founder and one of the co-ordinators for MAKE YOURSELF HEARD!, a monthly open mic poetry night in the Safehouse Artspace gallery, Belfast, allowing poets of all experiences and backgrounds a platform for their work.
Previously, Colin has been a co-ordinator of Poetic Splendour, a monthly performance poetry night in Belfast, and has worked as a Poet In Motion for the New Belfast Community Arts Initiative. Notable readings include the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival, Between The Lines and the Castlereagh Verbal Arts Festival.
Colin is also the editor of Speech Therapy, a small poetry journal focusing on new poetry from the North of Ireland. It has released four issues, the most recently in May 2008.
Colin’s work has been published in the Black Mountain Review, Poetry Now, Street Seen, Laika Poetry Review, Revival, and Fire, amongst others. He hopes to continue to support and promote the poetry scene in Belfast and beyond, and is working toward a first collection of his work.
