Thank you for requesting a connection to Chapinas Unidas via myspace.
Chapinas Unidas came together as a collective of womyn in January 2007. We began the collective to raise awareness about the femicide happening in Guatemala. Everyday atleast 2 womyn are murdered in this small Central American country. At the turn of 2008, 3,500 womyn had been counted as murdered since 2001.
C.U. has remained on the myspace to strengthen the network. Updating the page with blogs, news pieces, event information, and photographs. Please subscribe to our blog to stay informed. If you would like to add information to the page, please send us a message. This is still a collective effort to keep the information and awareness growing.
Also add Radio Mujeres Abriendo Caminos. You will find the link on this page. This is a radio program that is produced in Los Angeles and connects to Voces de Mujeres 92.1 FM in Guatemala. We do look for press releases, so send us information as well. Both CU and Radio MAC will be updated with information concerning immigrant rights, womyns rights, and more.
We hope that this messge finds you in good spirits and energies. With all the struggles we become aware of and join to fight and seek justice, we hope that you also take the time to take care of yourself at a physical, mental, and spiritual level.
Take the time to recuperate. take the time to breath. pause all thats around you and find clarity to continue your day, your week, the month, and the season strong.
speaking of seasons, folks have been in transition of sorts within the last weeks. and thats good, the season has changed, and im sure many of you have had to make important and wise decisions for your life. so continue with the flow. change is good. change is progress. change happens to balance our universe. go with it. even if it seems things went spiraling down, continue doing your best everyday and trust that in the end things will turn up, lessons will be learned, and good people will cross your path.
The justice we seek will not happen tomorrow, but we will plan, fight, and struggle with others and ourselves, and ultimately turn violence into peace - always with your help, always with your prayers, always with our friends.
Paz,
Chapinas Unidas
