The crew aboard the starship Enterprise would be offering me the well deserved Captain's chair to sit in if it were available. I am a producer of music, television, stage, video, and film. I am a "tribal leader". "Producing is in my blood" was a quote writer and professor Eddie Von Mueller documented when he interviewed me for Creative Loafing a few years back. Despite being well versed in predicting human behavior, I still remain an optimist. I love the magic that happens through spontaneity, and can always plan it well. :) I am a great motivator and can always get quality final products way under budget if necessary.
I work on film, commercial, and music video sets to pay my bills, and love every minute of it. It must show because people always want me back. I have a natural talent (and I'm modest). :) I got a rare treat recently when I attended the World Premiere of "Conjurer" ( a movie I worked on) at The Fox theater, the same theater I went with my grandparents to see Disney movies when i was a kid.
In the late 90s at the height of the Computer boom, I moved from head of the creative department at a few local Atlanta nightclubs (some of which I designed or helped design the lightshow--The Cove, Backstreet,Club Anytime, and others that I found the original location for the club--Petrus/Eleven50/Club Opera) to heading the specialized tech support groups for Microsoft and Hewlett Packard.
The entertainment industry kept calling me back--I received more than a few offers to work on film sets again (two offers from "2001 Maniacs" with Robert Englund) and eventually the offers became too good to pass up.
I have been told that I seem to know half the people in Atlanta. Sometimes it seems that way to me as well.
My theater group, Lips Down On Dixie, has performed in front of over 3000 people for over six years at Labor day weekend's Dragon*Con, the southeast largest Science Fiction/Fantasy convention. In addition to Dragon*Con, LDOD has performed at The Chamber, Club Future, and The Masquerade.
After 15 years, I continue to produce and co-host the TV show Film Forum, a 30 minute magazine-style program about the film industry.
I have interviewed Kate Hudson, Kevin Smith, James Ivory (Merchant/Ivory films), Rob Hardy, Whit Norris, and more.
Recording artists I have worked with have included Trent Reznor (NIN), Outkast, LeAnn Rimes, Grace Jones, Moby, Ru Paul, Dallas Austin, Huey, T-Pain, Memphys, and others.
