About Me

I am a Finnish guitar player, singer living in Dublin for over 12 years. For the past ten years, I have been playing music full time, gigging in Dublin and touring with several bands. At the moment, my main project is Sliotar www.sliotarmusic.com I love playing in this band. I have pretty much complete creative freedom. We mix and mach traditional Irish music with jazz, rock and all sorts of world music influences we picked up on our travels. We have a residency in a great venue, The Porterhouse, in Dublin. We play here every weekend, if we are not touring. Sliotar has also taken me to loads of places as well, we have toured in Denmark, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Czech rep. Slovakia, Finland, Italy, Austria and even Israel. Sliotar has recorded four CDs up to date and I am on the past three of them. Over the years, there have been few other bands. Tre, Anois and Trostan to mention few. With Tre, we recorded two CD’s and toured in Finland, Estonia and US. Anois has a CD with Estonian record company ARM music. I also played guitar on Sandra Sillamaa’s debut CD, played on two tracks on the Gogarty’s second CD and we appeared on two tracks with Sliotar on Ostrovy/Islands compilation CD, released in Czech rep. In early summer 2005 I took part in filming of a Finnish TV documentary “Ulkosuomalaisen tarina” “Ulkosuomalaisen tarina” This program appeared in Finnish TV in September 2007. And early 2007 I also took part in another Finnish TV show called Kotisatama. I also write my own songs, which some of them even ended up in Sliotars set list. Writing songs has been a passion of mine for a long time. I think the first attempt in to song writing goes back almost 20 years. It is in my plans someday soon to record selection of these songs and hopefully bring out a CD. Part from music, my passions are food, cooking and photography. Also I do part time work when Sliotars hectic schedule allows me, as a studio engineer in Idrone Media, where we have recorded several independent artists, but also some tracks for EMI. The technology part of music fascinates me as well, but I try to keep a healthy balance with this one. It’s amazing what you can do with sound, but you just cannot forget, at the end of the day, it’s your fingers, lungs and emotions where it all comes from. I love travelling, but also always love returning to my home and my darling girl in dear old Dublin.
