NIRIKA

About Me

NIRIKA - A band that finds its origin in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, in the summer of 2002. Four young musicians get together to create challenging music and to find their own unique style.
Within a year after their foundation, NIRIKA wins both the jury- and the audience award at the 'Roos van Nijmegen', and they reach third place in the Music Awards Gelderland. After this they get to play on several large stages such as Doornroosje in Nijmegen (with Amplifier), W2 in Den Bosch (with Aerogramme), the Appelpop festival, the Huntenpop festival and more.In February and March 2004 they went into the studio to record their self titled first album: NIRIKA, which was released at the end of that year and got good reviews:
"The songs are tight, adventurous, have surprising changes in rhythm and keep lingering in your abdomen. NIRIKA brings an exciting mix of rock genres, that swings you back and forth between emotions; a kind of mirror for the soul." VPRO-3voor12
Unfortunately, NIRIKA had to take it slow after that because of personal circumstances.
But medio 2006 they picked up where they'd left off and started writing new material, which is still energetic but also more mature. Three of those songs were recorded around June and are featured on the new EP called: Before The Passion Fades. The release is planned for August 2007. The whole EP will be available at MySpace after release.
