My Image
At the ripe age of 24, I feel like there's a corner that I'm turning. A great part of is starting to care less about the little things because I've got the big shit to worry about--my career.......that's about it at this point, but that's a big enough deal at my age! So I'm caring a little less about "dressing to impress," a little less about being impressive in general and little more about leaving my mark on the world. I've been a quiet in the mark-leaving department, but that's because I'm working on it a little, ladies and gentlemen. So we'll leave it at this--I'm the typical twentysomething middle-class American. Nothing more, nothing less.
Philosophy on Religion
God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit--the Holy Trinity. I don't deny you in the least bit. Love you, in fact. But has religion become a little more like retail lately and less like a necessity? It's the way it's presented to us. And now we live in a culture that is full of independent, free-thinking beings, religion should follow suit and ask questions even though faith is based on believing without asking. I would like to believe that God would want us to question things, only to gain perspective of what life should be like. Yet, I don't find many places where the answers aren't scripted. It is what it is, I suppose.
Political Philosophy
Obama/Biden in '08. I'm not really in total opposition of John McCain, but it is more his regime I'm curious about. I think we're making too much of Sarah Palin, despite her sounding like a moron in several interviews (Google her interviews with Katie Couric from CBS News and that should be enough to think, hmmm, maybe they should have went with Romney). A vice-president is a whatever position. Can most of you tell me what Cheney has done politically in the last 36 months? Whatever; Obama is continuously attacked for "a lack of experience," but does anyone think that he'll be taking his political advice from a Cabinet that also lacks so-called experience? He sounds idealistic, which is what this country really needs. We need someone who wants to actually change the fabric of a nation--we're hated when we should be admired again. America was the beacon of democratic hope when we first started in the 1700s, and it's about time that we're a beacon of hope again, without spreading our will with force like we've done in Iraq.
Philosophy on Girls
Girls, I love ya. You're about the best thing around that's not a sport or an iPod. At the same time, I hate ya. You can be as annoying as swimmer's ear or an in-grown toenail. A juxtaposition indeed. But you have boobs, so in the end, you win. I've traveled difficult paths with a few difficult ones, so I'm extra picky these days, but because I am, I think I shoot too far out of my league, kinda like shooting half-court shots when I could go in for the easy layup. But hey--if I keep shooting, I gotta hit at least one at some point, right?
Philosophy on American sports
Football is here finally! Go Cowboys in the NFL, go Cards and Buckeyes at the collegiate level (notice I left out the Racers--what's the point of even rooting for them?), and go for the LMHS Dawgs and, yes, even the Trinity 'Rocks (but only this year--once you're gone, bro, never again!). Baseball ended sadly in Atlanta--to the point where the Braves have been irrelevant for months. What are you fuckers doing in that front office???
Philosophy on John Mayer
The guy just makes sense. He is to me what Stevie Ray Vaughan is to him--logical and complete. How many people can cover songs and make them sound better (i.e. Kid A, Free Fallin', Everyday I Have the Blues)? Well, people may say he's soft and people may say he's kinda cocky because he can listen to your favorite guitar player's songs and crush them in a second. Whatever--I'm not asking everyone to love him, but damn it, I can't get enough of him.
Philosophy on My Own Fashion
Got a lot on my mind, so I care a little less about what I wear. I blend in for the time being. I care a little less about the watch I'm wearing (despite it being an $800 Lucien Piccard watch from Switzerland). I care a little less about my shoes, whether they be Ice Creams or whatever. Michael Kors shirts--I wear them, but it's whatever. I've got bigger things on my mind.
I have a brainchild known as Aftershock. Perhaps one day it'll be a household name.
