Here's the lowdown!Newcomers Home, which began as a dorm-room musical experiment, played its inaugural gig in December of 1998 at a small coffee shop on the Hill in Boulder. At that juncture the band members didnt realize that they were embarking upon their post-college careers and what would later be called one of the quickest rises in local music history (Wendy Kale, The Colorado Daily).Just in time to graduate from CU Boulder, Newcomers Home released its debut album, Miles from Saint Louise (2000), followed by its second album, In the Hour (2002), which ranked as the 4th best-selling CD in Boulder (Daily Camera, May 2002). In 2003 they released their best-seller so far, "Live at the Boulder Theater." Most recently(Spring 2005), the band relased it's self titled album that was co-produced with Gary Paczosa (Alison Krauss, Mindy Smith, Nickel Creek, etc.).Combined, the two CDs have sold more than 10,000 copies off stage, over the Internet, and through independent record stores. Live at the Boulder Theater, released in late 2003, marked the Coloradoans third release on their own Deep Sea Dog label. All three releases have been supported with constant national touring.Newcomers Home packed the Fox and Boulder Theaters at home, and the group also had no trouble filling rooms like NYCs The Bitter End, Nashvilles Exit/In, San Franciscos Sweetwater Saloon, LAs The Mint, and other venues on their own and as a supporting act for bands ranging from Leftover Salmon, Pat Green, and the Jazz Mandolin Project, to Dada and The Spin Doctors. Newcomers Home has been garnering national radio airplay, and their song Drive was included on A3 radio giant KBCOs Live from Studio C disc. Whats more, their songs "Hold On" and Chase Me were featured in episodes of the popular WB TV series Smallville.
