FROM OUR LAST SHOW: 2-9-07
"If rock ’n’ roll was snow, then Grandstand would be one glorious fucking rock ’n’ roll snowball barreling down a steep slope, constantly becoming more rocking and energetic as they move forward, pulverizing anything that gets in their way. Their visceral, socially conscious music demands attention regardless of musical taste."
- - - - - John Payne, Ricks Cafe, March 2006
grand-stand (intr.v.):
1. To make an unnecessarily showy play.
2. To perform ostentatiously so as to impress an audience.
Press Release:
Throughout their development Grandstand retained the foundational concept: expression of nervous energy, thereby channeling collective agression in a vehicle of outstandingly well-written and well-performed post/indie rock songs. Your ears heard: Iron Maiden penetrated by At the Drive-In; your eyes confirmed: You were at a Grandstand show.
Extensive Bio:
Based out of Madison, Wisconsin, Grandstand delivered high-energy kick-you-in-the-mouth indie rock songs. Bombastic and driven, these songs came straight from crunch-town. The interplay between left-handed guitarist/vocalist Brett Colson and right-handed guitarist/vocalist Jon Stover melted your faces as they deliverd killer countermelodies and tasteful dual leads. The Voice, Ben Burwitz, embodied the rich range of social and emotional intensities that inspired their lyrics and songs. Recently aquiered, then lost member Sky Amman, whose rage was never to be tamed on audio record, laid down fresh beats to Scott Colson’s already clean bass work. Together, Grandstand blasted you into the future of rock music.
Vocalist Burwitz killed any live crowd, making widows with his powerful and emotionally charged vocal delivery as well as Cedric-inspired stage antics. Stover dug graves with his fast, crunchy leads and catchy countermelodies, harmonizing with Colson’s melodic dual lead action. Drummer Sky layed it on thick as Scotty C cut through with deep, pulsing basslines, further thrusting the bulge of rocknroll in your already swollen orifices.
Our EP Regime Change is no longer availiable through the band. They will always have a few availiable at Music go Round in Madison (since there is no demand), or on the black market worldwide.
