In its 9th year, the All Oakland Youth Talent Showcase is a space where youth from all over Oakland audition to be able to share the same stage for the Bay Area to see that we are more than the negative images that are constantly used to portray us. This combined act of resistance and celebration showcases the beauty and talent that often gets kicked to the curb when one thinks, talks about, or presents Oakland.
-But us in the Town know better.
So, "We Put On: We do it for the Town" is just that...
it's us putting on
it's us doing it for the Town
cuz we know we got problems here
but we love this place too
and our act of resistance will say out loud...

WE WANT ALL Y'ALL YOUTH POETS, EMCEES, DANCERS, SINGERS, BREAKERS, MUSICIANS, ACROBATS, MARTIAL ARTISTS, DJS, ETC TO TRY OUT, SHOW-UP, & PARTICIPATE IN THE TALENT SHOW. FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY YOU, THE YOUTH PERFORMERS, CAN TAKE THE STAGE TO PROMOTE CREATIVITY, PEACE, & SOCIAL JUSTICE IN OAKLAND & THE WORLD WHILE SHOWING OFF YOUR TALENT.
THE 8TH ANUAL ALL OAKLAND TALENT SHOW WILL INCLUDE DOZENS OF PERFORMERS OF ALL GRADE LEVELS WHO WERE AUDITIONED BY A PANEL OF YOUNG FOLKZ LIKE YOU & EDUCATORS. EVEN THOUGH IT'S YOUR TALENT BEING SHOWN OFF, WE WANT YOU ALL TO REFLECT THIS YEAR'S THEME: "A Change Gonna Come: From the Town Life to an Even Better Life" IN YOUR PERFORMANCE.
