Born to a single teenage mother in the urban parts of Kansas City, Kansas, Vertwaun "Louie V." Hopkins was clearly at an economic disadvantage. Growing up on welfare and in Section 8 housing, Louie V. was bound to change the status quo of his life. As a child, Louie V. received 100 percent support from his family so that he could be something greater than them. With big dreams of the good life, Louie V. sought after ways to increase the cash flow in his life. A faithful church going individual, Louie V. strictly avoided illegal activities. Instead of selling drugs and robbing people, Louie V. did yard work in his neighborhood with his childhood friend Dougie. In their free time, the two friends would have freestyle battles with each other and record random verses on a voice recorder. Coincidently this would spark Vertwauns urge to becoming a serious rap artist.
Louie. V has performed in and won numerous local talent shows, which to him was practice for his future sold out concerts. He has also opened for bigger local artists at their album release parties. More recently, Louie V. has performed at a talent showcase sponsored by Good Life Entertainment. "GLE" was accompanied by labels such as Sony, Atlantic, and Capitol. Unfortunately, Louie V. did not impress the labels at the time of the showcase. He has recorded a mixtape at Kansas City's premier studio Chapman Recordings, and is considered a regular in the studio. Chuck Chapman, the owner of Chapman Recording was so impressed by Louie V. and his group (Threat Set/Triple Threat Society) that he added an article about the group onto the studios website. Louie V. has also been invited to perform at local birthday parties, as a featured artist.
With his music career taking off, Louie V.s biggest goal is to provide his family and all those who provided for him, with everything they need and want. A more general goal is for his album to go diamond, or at least platinum. He would like to be known for impacting the community positively and letting them know that you don’t have to resort to selling drugs when funds run low. Unlike most rap/hip hop artist, Louie V. would like to be looked at as a positive role model for the little boys and girls of the urban areas around the world.
