Biography
Craig Ferguson is known across the world by many names, such as, Bing Hitler, Mr. Wick from the Drew Carey Show, his most famous one though is TV's Craig Ferguson, which he uses to introduce himself on the Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson following David Letterman.
Craig was born in Glasgow, Scotland on May 17, 1962 his first "show biz" like career took off when he started as the drummer for some of (what is said), to be the worst punk bands in the U.K. He kept this profession for a few years, afterwards he started to bartend at a local pub in Glasgow where he was introduced to Michael Boyd a director of The Tron Theatre in Glasgow. Boyd told Craig to take a swing at acting.
So he did, and after a few low paying gigs, Craig realized his natural knack for comedy and was soon the star of his very own BBC television show titled, "The Ferguson Theory" He floated around BBC a while and in 1995 Craig came to America. A fun fact is that he claims when he was 13 his father brought him to America to visit some family and he fell in love with it at a young age. He often jokes about comming to America in his monologues and during his stand up shows.
When he came to America in 1995 he began to star with Betty White and Marie Osmond in the ABC comedy "Maybe this Time". When the show ended ABC had been so impressed by Craig's talents that they made him the famous Nigel Wick aka Mr. Wick to the Drew Carey Show. Where he stared on the show from 1996-2003.
After that he wrote, directed, produced, and acted in several self written films. While in 2005 he would be shot into the heart of America's Late Night Life. In 2005 he became the host of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson where he holds the position still today. His opening phrase which audiences know him by is, "It's a great day for Amercia Everybody!" A favorite is when he comes back from commercial and he says different phrases such as, "Welcome back my frisky badgers!" and he acts it out while making unhuman noises.
