Love is action. It isn't just talk, and it never was..

About Me

What can I say about me? I have WAY too much education for my own good, but I'll hopefully get to use it someday soon. I feel like I work a lot... but Guitar Center is a great place to work, so I can't complain. I miss London and all my friends, and my flatmates especially, but LA is home. I think I'm an all around happy person and try to be positive. I am eclectic, and sometimes I'm a nerd, but I like to think that's what my friends like most about me! Oh, and did I mention that I'm married to the most wonderful man I've ever met? FINALLY!

My Interests

Politics, music, travel, exploring new cities, shopping, spending time with friends just talking, learning about pretty much anything, reading, movies...

I'd like to meet:

You! ... but seriously, I'm on here so that my friends can keep track of me and my exploits! And post comments and tell me what's going on with you!

Music:

Mostly anything... currently, I am into Spanish rock, country, hip hop, and classic rock, or classical when I study. Jazz is good, but so is screamo. Very eclectic

Movies:

Anything old, anything with Audrey Hepburn or Carey Grant or Doris Day... Notting Hill, Under the Tuscan Sun, My Fair Lady, An Affair to Remember, If a Man Answers, Harry Potter, Pirates, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory... I could go on...

Television:

QI on the BBC, CSI (the original), SVU, Top Gear, Overhaulin'

Books:

The Things They Carried, Harry Potter, the Scarpetta series, Ben Bova's books, anything by Frank Paretti or Terry Pratchet or Orson Scott Card. And... because I'm a nerd: Sovereignty, Rights, and Justice by Chris Brown and Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond.Favorite Quote - Hegel, on love: "Love means in general terms the consciousness of my unity with another so that I am not in selfish isolation but win my self-consciousness only as the renunciation of my independence and through knowing myself as the unity of myself with another and of the other with me."

Heroes:

Jesus, my parents, Colin Powell, Nelson Mandella, a few of my professors, my friend Trish cuz she rocks, and Justin cuz he always saves the day!

My Blog

Politics as usual

An excerpt from an article caught my attention this morning, so I thought I'd share it. It's written by Matt Bai of the New York Times about the distinct political culture created by the media: "Ten ...

My life in a cubicle

For some reason, I never pictured starting my career in a cubicle. I mean.. had I stopped to think about it, I probably would have realized it was highly likely to happen. But the one thing I for sure...

Moments of pure happiness
