Formed in Manchester in January 2007, The Great Fury "deliver a catchy brand of garage rock/blues inspired music, singing songs of modern love, classic cocktails, Orwellian visions and political views" (VMan Events). The Great Fury name reflects "The media and government escalating certain situations for their own ends, so therefore is a cause of a great fury to them" (David Cross)
With David and Will meeting in 2007, they picked up Phil and Adam on the way. The band's pedigree has meant that previous incarnations have supported the likes of The Mystery Jets, Babyshambles, The Black Keys and The Cribs, and early reviews likened the sound to a "dirty take on the Arctic Monkeys perhaps, very similar as far as vox and lyrics go...Libertines and Jamie T fans my also be tickled pink" (Bugbear Bookings)
Within one month of their formation, the band supported Look See Proof at Night & Day, Manchester, recorded a demo which premiered on a heavily visited Myspace site. To date over 50 gigs spanning the UK have been played including Dublin Castle in Camden, supporting Stones Roses' Mani at the launch of The Cellar Bar in Blackburn, and providing main support to The Dykeenies at the MAPS Festival at Urbis in Manchester. "Rave reviews from their energetic live shows" have swelled the fanbase as the band consistently pack out increasingly high profile gigs such as "In The City" where "The Great Fury headline this week in Manchester, guaranteeing you will all feel like stars once you've gone and checked them out!" (Deuce Management & Promotions)
In February 2008, The Great Fury went to ground at the Motor Museum Studios in Liverpool to record their new EP 'Competition' produced by Deltasonic Records' Simon Cullwick. A musical maturity had grown since previous recording sessions, evidenced in diverse tracks which retained the band's trademark raw power now contained in the dancey/rock opening single Competition, to the melodic Welfare.
From April 2008 'Competition' has been available for sale locally on CD and internationally on iTunes where strong download figures have justified the launching of a website dedicated to the band. Further promotional activities include hitting media and radio, which has yielded an Xfm interview and session, a main support slot with The Virgin Marys at Academy 3, Manchester and a potential tour of Seattle, USA.
With an ever expanding song catalogue, The Great Fury are putting a hard work ethic into creating music for the heart, so "if you want to listen to a band that sound like nothing you've heard before, then you have to check out these fine young specimens!!" (Lauren Bearpark, Nu-Space music magazine)

Influences: Anything that gives you soul, from family, the girls we love, the music that we grew up to, our mates, what we want to be, what we're gettin away from, what we used to be and what plenty of people still are. It's about gettin out of bed, puttin your shoes on and feelin like a star. We do what we do because it's our life, it's what we are, and what you should be too.

Sounds Like: "The Great Fury deliver a catchy brand of garage rock/blues inspired music, singing songs of modern love, classic cocktails, Orwellian visions and political views."
(Vman Events)

"The Great Fury have got the look of a true rock ‘n’ roll band and their assertive nature on stage makes them the ideal band to pick up the pace. When the tempo is raised the lead vocals have a certain Cooper Temple Clause tone to them and it keeps spirits high throughout the venue, delivering tight energised garage-rock inspired tunes. The Great Fury’s hard work ethic seems to have paid off extremely well, making them one of tonight’s favourites."
(Amie @ Surface)

"From Manchester…a dirty take on the Arctic Monkeys perhaps… very similar as far as vox and lyrics go… Libertines and Jamie T fans may also be tickled pink. Go see 'em!"
