About Me

After gaining critical acclaim for his debut album, singer/songwriter; Julian Barry returns fresh on the scene with his second studio album named “Are We on Our Way?” A new wave of songs with a more intellectually thought provoking sound. Optimism seems to be at the heart of this album, with an eagerness to try something new. Are We On Our Way? Is the follow up to 2009’s The Land Of Empty Promises, which laid stable foundations for good things to come. The end result has come from a positive view of new experiences and an enthusiasm to make good music. With four top ten UK unsigned hit singles and five official single releases, Julian Barry has left an impressive mark after gaining critical acclaim with his debut album The Land of Empty Promises. Released on Phantom Mystery Records in November 2009, the album features 11 tracks of varied genres, fusing an electic mix of synth pop and rock with a couple of acoustic songs for good measure. The album is available to download worldwide from iTunes or to purchase on CD at http://www.julianbarry.com/. Future prospects of the album going on sale in high street stores are looking positive, with more plans to come.Songs from The Land of Empty Promises such as; "You Don't Know Me", "My Little Hero", "Nothing's How It Used To Be" and "I Need To Tell You It's Over" have all received large amounts of airplay in the US, UK, Europe and Australia with a hugely optomistic response.Currently back in the studio recording his second album named "Are We Almost There?" Julian is showing an elevation in his writing and production skills. Lyrics are more optomistic and thought provoking, while the melodies give off that feel good vibe. The first single set to be released from the album is "All Over The Front Page" an upbeat electro pop song, with catchy chorus' and underlying electronic sounds. The single is due for release this summer which will be available for both digital download and physical format. Copies of the single will be available from www.julianbarry.com and will also include a bonus track. While Julian's debut album showed some influence from his favourite artists, it still kept that distinctive sound which is so unique to him. However, stepping up a gear or two Are We Almost There? shows influences yet to be brought out in his previous recordings. Artists such as Prince, IN-XS and Gary Numan clearly have a profound influence on this album whilst still having all the marks of a Julian Barry record.2008's debut single; Nothing's How It Used To Be established Julian as one of the UK's up and coming solo artists. Both in the UK and the rest of the world Nothing's How It Used To Be is his biggest selling record to date, peaking at 108 in UK chart. His commercial acheivements have seen his music acquire airplay on Radio 1, Rock FM, Australian Broadcasting Corporation, 2CR FM, Jango, Indie Link Radio (Canada & US), Sunshine Radio (Spain), Forest FM, Park FM, Last FM and more. Mr. Opposite, a single released with his former band, peaked at number "2" in the UK unsigned chart at bands unsigned.Over the past year Julian has been working on various side projects including a single which was released anonymously. A book of poetry which is set to be published in due course and collaborations with DJ N-Sane which will also soon be available.Julian referred to his last album as a "milestone" which proved to be worthy of the accliam it received. Are We Almost There? eagerly awaits it's chance to surpass it's predecessor. While it's release date as yet is unkown, we can be sure to anticipate this album.Reviews: "A vocal performance where you can actually hear the melodies and understand the lyrics which gives the performance far more meaning". If Julian continues to pull this off he will have fans eating out of his hands! - Phil Greenwood - Music Industry Critic* A selection of stores will be selling Julian's album. More information will be available right here very soon!
