Deep Dicks

Matto Belmondo and Gio Salvatore both grew up in Ostia near Roma (Italy). Together they started djing in the local youth club "Pasolini" in the early 80ies, playing Funk, Rap and Disco Music. In 1985 they won a DJ-Contest in Roma as youngest DJs. The award contained a record contract, producing one record of the famous mix-series "disco palla". As this record was a great success, the two young fellows were booked allower Italy. In 1988 the two friends split up after a dispute and stopped the collaboration.
Salvatore moved to Bologna as a dj-professional while younger Matto started working in Romas famous filmstudios Cinecittà as a sound assistant . In the early nineties, Matto moved to Berlin, discovered american techno and house music in the squatter scene and restarted dj-ing and organised free parties in underground locations while Salvatore played in the Clubs allower Italy, had a residence in 1998 in the Cellophane Rimini with Claudio Coccoluto and in 2001 he became the owner of dj.beat Record Store in Ibiza and was resident for Zenith Ibiza.
It was in 2005, when Matto played in the Tresor closing weeks, they met again by accident. After a 48 hours pub crawl they decided djing again together and so they started the Deep Dicks.
the Deep Dicks stand for a warm and deep widerange dancefloor sound, somewhere between uplifting house and funky techno, represending all the background of Salvatore and Matto that was accumulated in the last 25 years. They often invite friends for a gig, such as famous "Club Hysteria" dancer Rafaela Calzone (see the picture above), the drummer Toni D. or the percussionist Solomon Nganga.
