Let me pose a few questions. What makes a perfect music festival? Does a perfect music festival exist and, if so, what is it? If it doesn't exist, what would be the individual elements that, if grouped together, would make a perfect music festival?
These are things I've been thinking about since Haldern Pop 2006 and, during the 2007 festival season, I looked for answers, I went on a quest.
I travelled to thirteen music festivals, festivals that were spread across three continents and nine countries:
• Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (USA).
• The Isle of Skye Music Festival (Scotland).
• The Isle of Wight Festival (England).
• Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts (England).
• Roskilde Festival (Denmark).
• Latitude Festival (England).
• Festival Internacional Benicà ssim (Spain).
• Fuji Rock Festival (Japan).
• Haldern Pop (Germany).
• The Green Man Festival (Wales).
• End of the Road Festival (England).
• Reeperbahn Festival (Germany).
• Iceland Airwaves (Iceland).
