The Pawnbroker formed from a passion for The Hilliard Ensemble, Rod Steiger, Low and Harold Budd.
After opening for I Am Kloot and Tom Brosseau, they have recently debuted a live soundtrack to the Steiger/Lumet movie The Pawnbroker, and will be releasing songs on the Earth Connection label in 2009.
Ben Sandiford and Pete Brookes use vocals and a piano.
