JUNIOR SPEAR (Marcus Rodney) was born in St Ann, Jamaica into a musical family and was surrounded by music from an early age. His younger years were spent traveling with his father between his birthplace of Jamaica and the States and as he grew so did his love and appreciation for the reggae music of his roots. He began to eventually write, compose and sing his own lyrics.
Junior Spear's first appearance was on "Suzie Q's Talent Show" at Eastern Parkway in Ocho Rios St. Ann and a second appearance was on Star Search Traxx Talent competition with host D.J. Mad Andrew in Kingston at Media Mix, Palm Productions. It was from those early beginnings that Junior Spear has transcended to become the well seasoned musical talent that he is today.
Now making his home in Jamaica, Junior Spears sound is raw and as colorful and bold as the streets of Jamaica from where it originates. His rough life struggles come through in his music as well as the message of unity that his lyrics promote. His mission is to unite fellow warriors and higher beings of the world while educating the people about the hardships in his country.
Together with Strife Records he has now set out to create a powerful CD of original tracks that reflect the streets of Jamaica. This collection of work which collaborates with other artists such as well known Jamaican DJ SCORCHA ( myspace.com/generalquam ) is due to hit the streets in Summer '09. GET READY FOR IT SOON COME!!!
