Rochelle Brown, Small Harp and Song

About Me

Rochelle took up the Small Irish Harp as an adult. Studying with Cathleen O'Connell she learned to love the sound of the wire-strung, then with Dr. Cheryl Ann Fulton. A dedicated adherence to traditional Irish music, especially the music of Turlough O'Carolan, lots of practice and some innovation of style has caught the interest of harp lovers. Rochelle has played in pubs and train stations in New York as well as outdoor fairs, weddings, private parties and ceremonies. In Dublin, busked on Grafton St. and had a steady gig in the much beloved Gogarty's pub. Rochelle is currently playing the double 29 wirestrung harp by Argent Fox music. Available for your wedding, party or event, phone: 360-389-6132 email:[email protected] "I'm pleased to be able to continue offering harp music to listeners. . ."

Influences: Chopin, Aine Minogue, Patrick Ball, and some of the finest Irish session musicians. **** Here is a wonderful video showing Harper Tasche playing the cross-strung.
Sounds Like: The wire-strung sounds like a music box or silver bells. A little like Paul Dooley's wire-strung harp but sweeter. Repertoire includes classical "lite", contemporary, and Irish, simple arrangements of pieces from Handel's Messiah and a few operatic arias. Here is me playing at the Holiday Arts Festival.
