About Me

Dane Hardee began playing music in South Carolina throughout his formative years. While attending the University of South Carolina, he began studying music privately with Robert Newton, who in turn introduced him to jazz. Dane spent this time learning the vocabulary of jazz in which he became familiar with many standards and discovered his love for improvisation. With the strong encouragement from Robert, Dane applied and auditioned for the chance to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, Ma. Once entering Berklee, Dane began studying with several world renowned guitarists. While in his last semester at Berklee, Dane recorded his first cd. This cd contained 3 original tracks and a few standards. The recording session was intended to be loose in which there were basic grooves, progressions and cues layed out but mostly to be improvised by the group assembled. There was very little rehearsal and things just came together in the studio on the fly. There are a few songs from the session posted for your enjoyment. Dane is currently writing and working on a full length cd to be released in the future (hopefully around decemeber)."Hey Rob, Meet Phil" written by Hubie Wang and Dane Hardee/ Produced by Dane Hardee "A Night in Tunisia" was written by Dizzy Gillespie/ Arranged by Dane Hardee "Witch Hunt" - Wayne Shorter
