FIRST NAME: Art ||||| MIDDLE NAME: The ||||| LAST NAME: Dude
I come from a family of musicians, and being the youngest of 7 siblings, all that music in our house had a profound affect on me. My father. "Woody" played boogie-woogie and honky tonk piano as a young man, catching the ear and eye of the great Boots Randolph, who hired him into his band for local gigs. My mom, Joyce, "Jo" a wonderful poet, songwriter and lyricist, also was a great source of inspiration. Both of my brothers, Lenn and Mike, are working musicians, singers and songwriters and awesome guitarists. My sisters are also gifted in music. ~~ Many artists have influenced, shaped or otherwise touched me, some are: Bob Dylan, The Doobie Brothers, Johnny Cash, SRV, John Mellencamp, John Prine, Howlin' Wolf ... the actual list would take many pages to cover, but check my friends and see a sampling of some. ~~ At the tender age of 5, my daddy placed a harmonica in my mouth and said: "breathe son." I did. From then on I was hooked. On my following birthday, my dear Aunt Dorothy gave me a plastic guitar. I wasn't very impressed with the "toy" guitar seeing the "real" electric and acoustic guitars laying around the house; but when older brother Lenn, showed me an "actual" song on it, it made an impact. Art the dude video: Here is a video I shot of Willy the squirrel, a bushy-tailed tree rat that lies in my back yard. I wrote a parody song to "Girls Gone Wild" called "Squirrel's Gond Wild."
