Stone Harlet's origin begins with the meeting of drummer Matt Thomas and singer/songwriter Josh Sinclair after the
latters former band "The Now" performed their last show in early 2006. This sparked the two getting together for several
jam sessions along with "The Now" bass player. Both Matt and Josh's musical influences and playing styles combined well and they soon
invited Ed Merrell - Matt's bandmate from former rock group Gazebo- to join the sessions on lead guitar. This inclusion of Ed added a new
dimension to the group and several songs were then written utilising each members individual style.
In early 2007, after extensive rehearsal, the
band performed a few shows around Newcastle to a warm response. In August 2007 Adrian Trethewy joined as the new bassist, bringing further depth to the Stone Harlet lineup. The inclusion of Adrian to the group initiated a period of creativity in which the band wrote 4 new songs.
Each member brings different influences and former band experience to the table. This results in Stone Harlet having a wide collection of material
ranging from melodic ballads to heavy riff-based songs reminiscent of the mid-90s grunge era. Stone Harlet continue to write and perform, and are looking to record in the near future.
