Claudio Constantini (pianist, bandoneonist, composer, musical arranger) is one of the leading Peruvian musicians of today. He has played over 4 continents and has an active career in all 4 fields of specialization.Born in Lima, Perú (1983) into a family of musicians, he began his music studies with the piano at age 13. Half a year later he won the 3rd prize in the National Bela Bartok piano competition. At age 16 he entered the National conservatory in 1st place and continued under the tutelage of his father, pianist Gerardo Constantini. The same year, he made his solo piano debut recital with great success and played around the country.At age 16 and 17 (two consecutive times) he won the National Conservatory competition, and played as a soloist with the Conservatory symphonic orchestra, conducted by his mother, Carlota Mestanza de Constantini.At age 17 he won 1st place in the prestigious Litmann International Music Competition in New York city.The following year he got accepted to the Lahti University of Applied Sciences Faculty of Music (Finland) and continued his studies with professors Lauri Väinmaa, and Raija Kerppo. He graduated from the faculty of music in 2007 with highest honours.In 2008 Claudio was recipient of the HSP Huygens scholarship, a prestigious prize for musicians who wish to study a Master's degree in The Netherlands. Therefore, he continues his Master of Music studies in the Rotterdam Conservatorium, with professor Aquiles Delle Vigne.Piano career aside, Claudio Constantini has an international career as a bandoneon player, an instrument which he studied autodidactially at first (started in 2004) and later with professors Victor Villena and Leo Vervelde. With the bandoneon he has won 1st prize in the 12th International Astor Piazzolla Award (2006, Italy), at the Klingenthal International competition (2007, Germany), and at El Corte International Competition (2008, The Netherlands). Claudio's playing of the bandoneon, as well as his original tango arrangements and compositions, has brought him praise from musicians from around the world.Claudio Constantini has been invited as guest pianist and bandoneonist in such festivals as the Grachtenfestival (Amsterdam), Turku Jazz festival (Finland), Riihimäki summer festival (Finland), Murcia International orchestra festival (Spain), Maailmantango festival (Tampere), Wuppertal tango festival (Germany), J.S.Bach International Festival (Peru), National choir festival (Peru), National violoncello festival (Peru), among others. Furthermore, he has performed as soloist and/or with orchestras in countries such as the United States of America, Japan, Russia, Peru, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Latvia, The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Spain, etc, in some of the most important cities and venues such as De Doelen (Rotterdam), Pakkahoune (Finland), Auditorio Julio Villegas (Spain), Sibelius Hall (Finland), Sellosali (Finland), Linnateatteri (Finland), among others.As a musical arranger, Claudio Constantini has arranged for such prestigious orchestras and ensembles like the Juvenalia chamber orchestra (Finland), the Orquesta Típica Tangarte (Sweden), Music Theater department of the Lahti Polytechnic (Finland), Lima string ensemble (Perú), among others. He regularly performs his own repertoire with his groups La Gran Siete (septet) and El Escape (quartet).
