BRIL BARRETT

BRIL BARRETT is a creative tap dancer, whose mission is to preserve and promote tap dance as a percussive art form, foster respect and admiration for the history and creators of tap, and continuously create opportunities for the art form and its practitioners.
Bril is the founder of the world-renowned tap collective, M.A.D.D. (Making A Difference Dancing) Rhythms. He is also the Artistic Director of The Chicago Tap Summit and founder of The M.A.D.D. Rhythms Tap Academy, reaching out to tap dancers and enthusiasts from all over Chicago and boasting students from Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin. He’s even established an international community as co-founder of M.A.D.D. Rhythms Canada.
Mr. Barrett’s performance credits include the off-Broadway hit show “Imagine Tapâ€, the national and international tour of “Riverdance†and “Tap Dance Kidâ€. He has performed in “Gregory Hines Liveâ€, “The Oprah Winfrey Showâ€, The Democratic National Convention of Chicago, The St. Louis Festival, The Calgary Tap Summit, The Detroit Tap Festival and many others. He’s also been featured on ABC's TV show “Cupidâ€, a McDonald’s commercial, and is the second tapdancer to appear in a Coca- Cola commercial. His influences have also reached audiences and dancers overseas performing in Amsterdam’s “Broadway’s Soul Jamâ€, also teaching and performing in such countries as Canada, Germany, Finland, Turkey, Austria, Denmark, Sweden and is known as the first tap dancer to reach the country of Albania. He has started many outreach programs in Chicago's public schools, Park districts and even a performing arts high school in Gary, Indiana. He continues to perform, choreograph and teach all over the world, thus representing a new generation of Hoofers, proving that creativity and dedication has no limits.
