Sawbuck

About Me

"Sawbuck's original music is a blend of Rock and Roll, Country and Blues. Some call it "Alt. Country", others call it "Roots Rock". Regardless of the labels, Sawbuck plays thoughtful, catchy rock music written and played the way it should be...simple and good. With songs about love, heartbreak, drinking and becoming sober again, there is sure to be something for everyone!"

In the Winter of 2007, singer/songwriter Kevin Sullivan went into a local recording studio to capture some of the many song ideas that he had backlogged over time. With influences ranging from Paul Westerberg to Hank Williams Sr., he was sure he could find like minded musicians in the area that would be interested in forming a band.

Kevin recorded 4 or 5 acoustic songs and then began to look for others with similar musical leanings. Through the miracle that is the internet, it was not long before the basis of Sawbuck was formed. Kevin on vocals and rhythm guitar and Charlie Durden on lead guitar. Charlie already knew Joey Goldfish (Bass) from previous bands such as The Dirty Howlers and the fit was natural and immediate.

It wasn't long before Kevin, Charlie and Joe were joined by the likes of one Coach Danny "Hands" Wendt, on drums, and the rhythm section was complete! Rhythm forged in the fires of Central Illinois and brought to the big lights of the city.

Finally, on the 7th day, the skies opened up, rays of sunlight beamed down, and Sawbuck was graced by the presence of Brennan Pierce on violin and vocals.
