About Me

For the last four years, Hradcãny has been developing an artistic work delving into popular music from Turkey and Eastern Europe. Taking traditional melodies and rhythms, these four musicians work together, designing a festive and initiatory course, transcended by today's writing means, disclosing the improvisatory style of its soloists.

Serge Adam (trumpet)

He leads a double life as a composer and trumpet improviser. What determines each of his projects above all is the encounter between multiple cultures and practices. This is how he created several ensembles, such as Quoi de neuf docteur (What’s Up Doc) in 1983, Jazz MicMac (1994), and since 2000, Haute Fréquence (High Frequency), which unites improvising soloists and the interactive video images of Eric Vernhes. He is the co-founder of the composer’s forum Polysons (1993) and the trio Les amants de Juliette (Juliet’s Lovers) in 1994 with Benoît Delbecq and Philippe Foch.

Philippe Botta (saxophone)

A big part of his musical incentive is based on the encounter between world music and European improvised music. His work in Latin jazz and salsa (in the ‘80s) led him to Didier Squiban, Tito Puentes and Pedro Urbina. Starting from 1990, his Mediterranean, Arab-Andalusian and Turkish influences led to his collaboration with Keyvin Cheminari, Okay Temiz, Shamal Maitra… and in 1991 he joined the Senem Diuyici Quartet with whom he did a world tour.

David VENITUCCI (accordeon)

After studying at the Grenoble Conservatory, he turned his interests toward jazz and improvised music. In Paris since 1994, his investigation opens to other domains like songs, the theatre and the circus. He multiplies his encounters, plays and records with David Linx, Daniel Goyone, Christophe Wallemme, John Greaves, Romain Didier..... In 2002, he records his first disc alone "Cascade".

Bijan Cheminari (zarb, daf)

Bijan Chemirani is the heir of a large percussionnists's dynasty of the Persian tradition. Son of the great master Djamchid Chemirani and brother of Keyvan, he has made himself a name and a reputation which makes of him one of the most wanted players of zarb. He learns the Iranian repertoire with Cyrus Rangsbar and crosses this richness with artists who share with him the taste of crossed roads : Ross Daly, Jean-Marc Padovani, Juan Carmona, Percussion Orchestra, Inès Bacan, Nguyen Le, Titi Robin, Ballake Sissoko, Nèba Solo... He doesn't hesitate to associate the smoothnesses of the traditional Persan rhythms to flamenco, to jazz or to Eastern musics. He also plays the Daf, the udu, the bendir, the riqq, the saz. As a pedagogue, he directs many master class in France and foreign : "Fondacio Cini" ? in Venice, "Houdetsi Music Center" in Crete, "El Rythmo Vital" in Andalusia, "International Percussion Meeting of In Xordais" in Thessalonique, and within the framework of the WOMAD (... the USA, Singapore, Sydney, Taïwan, Brasil...).
